Winter routine, how to look and smell like a snack

Or something very glittery and glowing like you’ve fallen in to a Christmas tree, minus the needles. Here are my current dream December beauty products, for feeling like a winter fairy. I love working these in to my morning and evening routine when I can. First up is the Soap and Glory ‘Rich & Foamous’ body wash. I treat myself to this for the best wintry shower ever. It smells like those mini pancakes or boffins like you get at the Christmas markets and makes me hungry for a cafe breakfast.

I love to pile my shower high with Soap and Glory products, I still have some from last Christmas and I absolutely love to use them in the winter time. They lather up really well, thick and creamy, and the scents are so calming and gorgeous. The vintage chic packaging and cute puns are always a win too.

Next is post shower prep, if I can manage it. It’s a little challenge of mine to take time out for my self and prioritise some self care, it’s an important step for me to remember as I usually shove any ritual that makes me feel happy or calm to bottom of the pile. With my fatigue I tend to measure my worth in productivity so it feels really strange to carry out any act of self indulgence. I bought me a treat from Birmingham when we went to visit the Christmas markets. I absolutely love going in to Victoria’s Secret with their vast array of shimmery soaps, mists and lotions in all the different kinds of scents.

There are special shimmer mists and lotions that are perfect for the holidays, they are all original fragrances but contain tiny particles of shimmer to make skin glitter and glow. There’s Love Spell with cherry blossom and fresh peach, Pure Seduction with plum and freesia, Bare Vanilla with vanilla and soft cashmere and the scent I chose, Velvet Petals shimmer with lush blooms and almond glaze.

They have ‘frosted’ fragrances out too, Pure Seduction frosted is frozen tangerine and pink marshmallow, Love Spell frosted is snowy cedar and peach petals, Velvet Petal frosted is sparkling currant and arctic blooms, Bare Vanilla frosted is black sugar and fresh mint. This totally confused me at first as it was hard to tell which belonged to which collection haha, all of them look stunning.

I bought a full size shimmer mist and shimmer fragrance lotion, both in the original Velvet Petals scent. Said to smell like lush blooms and almond glaze, it has a deep, dreamy and relaxing, velvety floral scent and the shimmer lights your palms up like the night’s sky haha. They had little Christmas sets that were cheaper but the full sized versions are so, so beautiful.

The shimmer mist has fine silver glitter that swirls around in the bottle and catches the light and the bottle literally glows. Both have glittery encrusted and golden accented packaging too, so dreamy…

The glitter inside the lotion and mist is fine and not too chunky, so you are left with pretty shimmery skin. I like to use the lotion after showering and then the mist afterwards for lasting scent. I have super sensitive skin so am a little afraid of the shimmer resulting in a dyshidrotic eczema outbreak but it is so worth it haha, these are so gorgeous and beautiful to wear. I’m sure the scent doesn’t last too long compared to the more concentrated perfumes and edps but the more reason to keep spraying it haha

The Too Faced Snow Bunny bronzer is also really lovely to use, it gives a natural glowy look. I dust this on as part of my makeup routine and to add an extra bit of sparkle here and there. You can also use it on your neck to highlight your collar bones. I love the name and the shades inside and the packaging looks like one of the chocolate gold coins they sell at Christmastime. I don’t get on well with matte bronzers, I absolutely relish the festive season when it’s acceptable to dust my face with sparkles haha.

I finish off with one of the Too Faced ‘Sweet smell of Christmas’ matte liquid lipsticks – catch my review of the whole beautiful range here! The colours are so rich and bold and perfect for any festive makeup look, but I prefer to go for Sugar Cookie, my all favourite pink nude that smells like sweet cookies and vanilla icing. I then bundle up in my coat feeling holiday ready, I absolutely love playing with scent during this season, there are so many gorgeous smells out and about this time of year.
