Autumn candle collection

Autumn is one of the most romantic times of year, with the evenings darkening, candle wax burning thick and hot on the mantlepiece and the smell of the stove heating up. It's perfect for
curling up with a good fairytale novel, when we aren't hurriedly gathering apples and windfalls from the orchard or searching out juicy blackberries (they are still a little puny and shrivelled at the moment!). A hundred years ago us countryfolk might be sat by candlelight peeling apples and preparing foods with herbs and spices to be stored for the winter. These days we have candles to recreate those gorgeous scents, now our autumn routines are made much simpler!

This time of year spurs a whole new appreciation for candles as well as apple pies! I found these sweet little candles on ebay; they are by 'Our Own Candle Company' and made in the US (who are notoriously great manufacturers of all our favourite candles - Bath and Body works, Yankee Candles) and I have never tried a candle of theirs before! I love that each little jar comes with its own handle and they are beautifully vintage and almost victorian steampunk in design.

The scents are the greatest! I chose Hot Buns, Pumpkin Cream Pie, Cinnamon and Homemade Sugar Cookie; I can imagine taking some of these through to winter time as well, seeing as they have at least 30 hours burn time each. I have had Pumpkin Cream Pie burning all afternoon and there is still a lot of wax left to go, so fingers crossed it will last me to Halloween at this rate.

We had a lovely, long walk out and downpour today and I have felt a bit better being on citalopram! It was lovely to come back in soaked, light a candle and have chocolate on hand. There is a great autumnal feeling in the air - nature is dying and decaying all around but it feels so beautiful! What things do you love about autumn/fall?
