2020 has been tough so I thought I would compose a list of some self love glow up ideas to recharge, to glow up over the summer and arrive at the autumn refreshed and recharged. Here is a self love glow up challenge to have one of those internet emotional glow ups! To complete the challenge, spend as much time as you need to on any of these activities!
How long does it take to glow up?
One important misconception about the self love glow up process is the idea we can just tell ourselves stuff, force it on ourselves and be on our way. It just means that we are forcing ourselves to believe something, we’ll naturally fall out of it and end up blaming ourselves, which leads to comparing ourselves and the circle continues. One important step to practise is removing the things we are forcing on ourselves, all the ones we can find.
It’s such a wonderful gift to give yourself, you can start to put the heavy objects of pressure, judgement, pretence, comparison down – notice how much they’ve been taking over! – and start being curious about ourselves, about our own unbridled passion and power. 1. Spend lots of time with pets – pets are so great in many more ways than one (house plants definitely count too). It’s great to have a faithful, ever-cheerful and utterly gorgeous companion to help you through even the darkest times. They’re always by your side and there for you whenever you need them. They’re your rock, your solace and your reward.
They are always pleased to see you and their presence is soothing and therapeutic. When you walk into the room, it’s the best part of your pet’s day! And that makes you feel amazing.

2. Treating your pets or loved ones – treating your loved ones is like treating yourself x10! It feels so good, especially treating them for no reason and surprising them, it’s always a good time to treat your pet and home to a super cute personalised dog gift, super comfy cushion or bed for them, a cute jumper for going on walks when it’s cold, a mystery pet box, something that you and your pet will both enjoy! You could even whip up and bake some no cost treats for family and friends, or your pet. Treating them is like treating yourself at the same time! It feels so good to make your pet or loved one happy, one of the best ways to take care of yourself at the same time.

3. Surround yourself with cute, girly and feminine things – that make your heart sing, fill your home with adorable things that you can’t wait to come home to see!

4. Light lots of candles at once – it’s so soothing and therapeutic and you can experiment with layering different scents. Try to go for soy candles to avoid/minimise any toxic fumes.

5. Create a manifestation box – kind of like a secret Pinterest board but it is something you can hold and fill and make multisensory with different objects and textures to hold and feel, as well as different scents. What would the lifestyle you want feel like, or smell like? We can use our box to make like we have already achieved it, what would it feel like? What would it smell like, or sound like? Capture the excitement of a brand new year with gorgeous nail shades, champagne chocolates, glitter, silk, pretty packaging, mantras and little emblems that recreate the glamorous life you want to live.

6. Put a little bit aside every month – to buy lingerie in a fancy box, every so often. It makes you feel glamorous and extra!

7. Take Omega3 supplements – if you don’t like to eat oily fish. They will nourish every part of your body, from nails to skin to hair and make you visibly glow, as well as being essential brain food. Omega3 is pure gold for your body!

8. Make your drawers and closet look beautiful – and organised, complete with little scented wax melts to make everything within them smell amazing.

9. Spend time in the sun – especially laying in the sunshine and feeling it from your tips to your toes.

10. Imagine yourself as a superhero – design yourself as a superhero, what powers would you have – what vibes, what kind of energy? You could mentally design your whole outfit or hideout and cosplay as your alter ego. You could even commission a small artist or illustrator to bring your true super identity to life!

11. Buy cute underwear that fits well – and feels super comfy on.

12. Practise talking to people who intimidate you – aim to talk to the person you feel most scared of in every room and practise this wherever you are.

15. Make meals at home look and feel fancy – there are so many little ways to make your meals feel ultra cool, infuse sweet with savoury and vice versa, adorn your plate with pretty garnishes.

Organise your life in the cutest way ever – keep a planner, with cute stationery, stickers and use glitter gel pens and record everything, from little ‘drink water’ reminders to filling your planner with all the ‘me time’ activities you can find! It’s a diary that you can use to nourish yourself as well as plan out your time.

19. Create a small sacred refuge – with gemstones and images of your favourite things, where you can feel safe and sit and process and reflect. Choose a special spot, it can be indoors or outdoors, on a hill, by a stream, in a closed room, a special corner of your room or space to attend to and furnish.

20. Reach out and connect with your enemies – in any small way. Open yourself to conversation, practise listening instead of winning, consider deeply what others are saying and express what it genuinely means to you. Winning means nothing, listening and encouraging others to listen to you means everything. Communication and connection is everything, especially to those who are different to you. Connecting to someone discuss and understand each others views can help you so much more than you know, it is challenging and teaches you to keep patience but inspires a huge amount of change. Don’t be afraid to rest when you need to, allow yourself space and time to rest too.

21. Move your body mindfully – practise moving your body, stretching, flexing and becoming more flexible will help you feel more powerful and to rediscover and relish every part of you.

31. Create a video diary or instagram account of you trying every self love activity you can think of – and record the results, especially the awkward moments, the smoothie going down your top, any super funny outfits you end up with. Instead of followers, focus on spreading the love!

32. Have a go at recreating famous photos or music videos – with a friend, bonus points if you can go out and film or take photos in public. Have tons of fun putting together funny parody music videos! It will get you feeling so much more confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
