A little dose of travel dreaming*

*this is a collaborative post on www.icecreamandclara.co.uk

It can be a perfect time to take a mental vacation, with possibly months to go in lockdown and so many of us forced to take on an incredibly stressful workload, many of us are dreaming of the world outside and of a more peaceful summer, filled with things like family, friends and nature. As it starts to get warmer it’s fun to dream of places we’d love to visit, to take our mind off the current situation and fast forward to when everything has recovered. It’s important to look forward and realise it is temporary.

PS remember to stay at home if you are not working, it’s so important!

When the travel industry can recover cheap flights and hotel prices will most likely be on offer as everything slowly goes back to normal. It makes it even more tempting to dream of adventures far away, a whole different change of scenery. Here are some reasons Japan might be the ideal destination to dream about.

Far east Asia is dealing better with the virus – and will be the first to recover and be declared safe to visit. Cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are currently lifting restrictions, and Japan has an estimated 3,600 cases with fewer than 100 deaths. Countries in Far East Asia have observed other forms of coronaviruses before and have a more organised system to deal with the pandemic. The nation is by no means out of the woods, but Japan’s borders and sights should be open far before those in America or Europe.

Japan is stunning in autumn – it’s estimated that the threat of the virus will not lift for many months, up to 6 months we hear from experts. By this time it might already be autumn and that is all the more reason to dream of visiting Japan. Its landscapes are breathtaking in every season, but uniquely spectacular once everything starts to change colour.

Feel safe and secure – Japan is notorious for keeping to an exemplary high level of hygiene, efficiency and personal safety! An intricately organised system means that transport is incredibly fast and efficient and visitors can enjoy a high level of personal safety, the perfect environment for the nervous traveller after the virus outbreak.

An incredibly rich culture and history – there are endless things to see and learn, with castles, temples, shrines and more! Everything is so cute and charming and so well considered and designed, from packaging to interiors to restaurants, it’s such a cute and enchanting place!

Tourist attractions will be less busy – it will most likely be quieter in the time after recovery from the coronavirus, as many will be too nervous to travel for a while. Once it is safe to travel again, this period will be great for those who feel overwhelmed in crowded areas and trips to Japan will be as special as ever. When you have space to be able to feel relaxed, you’ll be able to understand the true wonder of Pagodas and temples.

It’s relaxing – it’s such a wonderful place to relax and escape from the stress of your current environment. You can enjoy the chilled tones of Hokkaido or the natural beauty of Nara, which is a short train ride from Kyoto.

Remember to wait until it is safe before you travel again and don’t take any risks, always adhere to government advice. However, we can still dream and start travel funds!
