Creating a how to get clear skin routine

Me having sensitive skin, the hailed skincare ‘glo up’ guides of the internet, with witch hazel, tea tree and all the other amazing sounding ingredients are lost on me. My skin burns and becomes badly inflamed moments after coming in to contact with any kind of tea tree product. Here is me attempting to slather stuff on my face to see what works haha. I’d love to have a dreamy kind of skincare routine of my own, I’d love to make it some special relaxing ritual to distract me and help me zone out.

Edit/heads up: Ahhh this set is back guys! You can pick it up while you can here, I promise it’s worth the purchase, this set is a dream and perfect for trying lots of skincare products at once.

I purchased this set myself, just a girl trying to achieve good skin, wishing on glass skin and recommending good products when I find them. I became interested in Origins for their gorgeous face masks, how gentle they are said to be and how they benefit the skin.

For me the key is pampering the skin with all the essential oils it needs, all the ingredients it needs to keep it replenished, protected and tend to it well, especially in the face of cold weather and winds. I seek out a skin routine that is gentle and kind, that my skin actually enjoys, all while nourishing and treating it from the inside by getting all the vitamins it needs. Glass skin, here we come!

So I went and I purchased this little exclusive Origins skincare set off ASOS. I love how all the bottles inside are all decked out in pink packaging. The one I bought is out of stock but they just brought out another little set of face masks here, they are ASOS exclusives so tend to sell out really quickly, really don’t hesitate to snap it up for yourself!

I bought it pretty much specifically because it had lots of small size products for me to try, the perfect chance to test out a number of products without spending too much on each one.

There are five lovely little tubes inside, a frothy face wash, a cleansing makeup removing jelly (which reminds me of the Glossier milky cleanser), a retexturising rose clay face mask, a renewal serum with willowherb and matte moisturiser with willowherb. Everything to create a super silky skin routine.

1. Step one, use the pink cleansing makeup removing jelly to take off and melt away makeup. It feels really gentle, yet smells so nice, so pretty and fragrant. It is a really lovely and easy way to pamper myself whilst doing good for my face and taking all of the craziness of the day off my skin.

2. Step two, use the frothy face wash to gently cleanse the skin and wipe away any impurities and dirt on the surface. If I’m feeling fancy I will use both of these but at tired times I often swipe with the pink jelly cleanser. It is worth noting that using both affords me a more thorough clean and helps to release the skin from all traces of stubborn makeup. It gives me a cool, clear, clean and soft base.

3. Step three, if I am feeling fancy I will use the rose clay retexturising mask, it smells divine and is simultaneously really relaxing to use. It looks like pink milk, contains little biodegradable jojoba beads and dries quite quickly after you apply it. There is little mess involved and it is so easy to apply, which I love, plus it leaves you with a lovely glow afterwards, it makes your face look so perfect and smooth. It didn’t break me out or cause any inflammation. It really makes you feel beautiful in your own skin.

Here are some swatches of all the products I used, from right to left, the rose clay retexturising mask that smells like roses and lavender, the cleansing makeup remover jelly that has a faint and subtle aroma, the renewal serum with willowherb that smells to me like rosemary, flowers and freshly pressed herbs, the white frothy face wash that smells like peppermint and the matte moisturiser with willowherb that offers the most gorgeous citrus like scent, it smells of roses and citronella.

4. To finish, the renewal serum and matte moisturiser, both infused with willowherb. I try to get them down quickly while the skin is still damp and can absorb them better. The matte moisturiser is my favourite product of them all, partially due the smell, it is absolutely gorgeous! It rivals the scent of Lush Sleepy to me, it’s that good! It’s cool, calming and soothing on the skin, so gentle and dreamy. I love to use the matte moisturiser in the day, a little something for the face on days that I am not wearing makeup. The serum feels refreshing, it soothes and smooths the skin, but I don’t tend to use this as much – I am biased towards the moisturiser – but both leave the skin feeling angelic.

I also make use of my Caudalie night cream and tend to use this instead of the matte moisturiser at night, as I feel it is better, heavier and more hydrating for my dry skin, to soak in overnight. It feels so soft in the morning, it makes for a lovely nightly ritual.

Yes to stormy afternoons and pamper evenings and mini size products you can buy to try, without paying an arm and a leg! I really like the minis, it makes me feel all put together when I have all the products I need in one set, plus I only tend to use many of these on specially allotted evenings as a bit of a pamper routine, as it is something I am too tired to embark on a lot of the time. I will definitely get back to you after using them for a while and compare ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures in a little while

Oh, you and I have similar taste. Vinoperfect is lovely. I really like the Origin Pink resurfacing mask as well, unfortunately I can't use it because it contains nuts 🙁 Enjoy it for me x

This is a beautiful set! I am yet to try Origins, but everyone loves their products so I am sure I would love them too. It's good to know that they're gentle on the skin too – we should always make sure we don't 'overwork' our skin, even when it's not as sensitive!

Aw thank you Julia!! That is so true, stripping the skin can often result in extra oilyness as it gets upset and tries to compensate 😀 I love the smell of them! ♡
