How to create, faux freckles vintage girl outfit

How to create faux freckles, vintage girl outfit
Happy Friday all! The goal for this look was a soft and cute everyday look, with a flamboyant twist. It's a dreaming in plaits, poofy sleeves, ridiculous bows aka my favourite things, over the top girly edit, just channelled in to a soft look one can wear every day. Living life being a bit ridiculous and standing out is fun, I love to try to do that with my outfits. I love the vintage vibes I get from this one.

The theme for the Met Gala 2019 is 'Campness' in fashion and I got inspired to make a little look of my own. For me it means the joy of donning the most ridiculous, over the top cutesy, gorgeous pieces. All my favourite outfits are ones that have a strange and crazy kind of character about them...
they are theatrical. I think you can have so much fun with this theme, it's such a freeing, liberating, crazy movement in fashion, everything to enjoy, and I love how creative you can get with it.

Described as 'the spirit of extravagance', a movement of celebrating the performance of identity and the joy of being 'ott', I'm a little bit in love. I love little over the top touches and flamboyant pieces and I had a lot of fun putting this outfit together. I even considered working in a spoon as an ode to 'ice cream' but kind of decided it might not be too convenient for the everyday girl to be carrying a spoon everywhere with her (better it stay in matching purse, in case of ample ice cream opportunities)

My key for this look was starting with a flamboyant piece to work around. For the vintage lover, there are pretty collars to pick from, I love those huuuuge collars you can get, they are so cute! Other ideas are going a little ott with bows, extravagant and statement pieces, all the poofy sleeves. The main piece for me for this project was this gorgeous double bow blouse from Shein. I am pretty new to trying Shein and not affiliated with them in any way but I absolutely love their selection of Modcloth inspired garments, from a girl who for years has stared at their pretty blouses and dresses with no way of justifying the shipping costs. Here is how I styled mine in to an every day outfit...

I chose messy plaits to accord with this outfit. I think it gives a really cute and casual look without looking too school-girlish. Just start with thin plaits and gently pull them apart to look chunky.

It's all about not making them look too perfect haha! Totally embrace any little hairs popping out, they will help to soften the look. This is such a cute, casual style for long hair, the longer your locks, the bigger the plaits can be. If you fancy being a bit extra, and want to spruce up your outfit, you can try popping ribbons on the ends. Once you have your perfect chunky plait, secure with hairspray to finish.

I used brown eyeliner for this look for a soft finish. I love the Sketch Marker by Too Faced, on the side is written 'chocolate chip, honey dip' which I think is really cute. It's exactly like a felt tip for the face, allowing you to exert exact precision over the eye and setting really nicely, it doesn't smudge at all!

Just to add a little extra flamboyance and to set my look I used the pen to create faux freckles on my cheeks and nose. Just dot carefully where the freckles naturally are on your face. For a natural look and to make them look extra authentic, just wait til they have dried, then take a powder brush and sweep quite vigorously all over the area to soften them and help them to blend in to your face better.

You can also create faux freckles by using wet brown liner or liquid brow pomade, maybe adding a little water, and dipping a brush in, to then gently flick across your face. Hard and stiff bristles like a toothbrush work best for this but you can experiment with all different kinds to find the best results.

Voila! That's what I love about brown liner, you can create any look and style your face and eyes however you like, and it will look totally natural, you can get away with so much. It's my secret weapon for natural makeup haha! I really hope you liked this look and let me know if you would like to see more. I miss the 2013 days of bloggers taking outfits in their bedrooms and kind of wanted to create that a little here. Them old blogging days! Let me know what you think in the comments
