How to make little fairy things, essential oils kit*

How to be a forest fairy and make bath and body products and pretty things for your makeup collection, SimplyEarth review.

Happy New Year everyone! I recently became part of the SimplyEarth squad, a family-run essential oils company who do an adorable recipe subscription box. I love the idea of making little fairy lotions and homemade soaps with beautiful aromas and wrapping them up in tissue, dried herbs, petals and ribbon,

it’s such a lovely idea for a new year resolution. I dream of growing things in the garden again to use in my concoctions. For me this box is kind of like the Graze for natural and wholesome, fragrant goodies.

Every month you receive a lovely box of ingredients that are perfect for making little fairy things that smell pure, fresh and dreamy. Spending time perfecting your creations is an adorable past time and an art in itself. Scroll down for a gift code and to see the vanilla mint lip scrub I had a go at haha…

December’s box contains four essential oils, a sachet containing citric acid and one containing goat milk powder especially for bath bombs, a little tub and bath bomb mould. When starting out it’s really hard to know what materials to source and what works best and I love that this box makes it so easy, it does all that work for you. Things that would be tricky to get hold of are delivered to your door in full size, so you will have a complete kit of ingredients, perfumed larder or potion cupboard, in no time.

The December box contained the essential oils Peppermint, Patchouli, Clove and a special Breathe Easy essential oil. Some of the essential oils that appear in the boxes are rare and precious, would be tricky to get hold of and often very expensive, like Neroli essential oil. They are homemade and lovingly sourced from farms all over the world. I am a bit overly excited to try out all the fragrances!

Little recipe cards included in the packaging include instructions for making body butters, bath bombs, massage bars, lip scrubs, perfume roll ons… so many beautiful little things to craft and give as gifts. There are also recipes for the home also, a festive diffuser oil recipe in the December box.

To make this vanilla mint lip scrub I used one tsp brown sugar, one tsp granulated sugar, two drops of vanilla essence, one drop of peppermint essential oil and half a tsp fractionated (liquid) coconut oil. I decided to use olive oil instead of coconut oil, as they have similar properties as carrier oils.

It was really easy to make, a case of combining ingredients, and I have an adorable product that will be amazing to use for the months to come. It only took me five minutes to make and smells amazing!

Ta da! You can detect the peppermint from outside of the packaging, yet it isn’t overly strong on application. It smells delicious, just like crushed candy canes. I tied it with a mini ribbon to finish.

My family and I have been using essential oils for years, but we usually just use them as they are, such as by applying them topically, smelling them, or ingesting them (when appropriate hahh). My mom is a little more adventurous and makes things like lip balms and soaps! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
