 1. Start with a dressing table - or any kind of little vanity space. Even a mirror and a little shelf will do, with some lovely storage baskets to keep your trusty beauty essentials or favourite things in. They have really lovely woven baskets for about £3 or £4 each in the shop 'Tiger' in different colours, I have

How to make a day off last longer

Girly lazy day ideas, how to spend your day off and make your day off last longer
Here are the perfect ingredients for the perfect lazy day and how to make your day off last longer. When you work so hard, a lazy day is the most beautiful feeling ever. This is written straight from the heart, I spend so much time crawling around the house on my hands and knees through tiredness, I can't describe the bliss when I get to spend a day at my own pace and take everything s l o w. Here are some chill out ideas and girly ways to spend your day off, how to make the relaxing last longer...

1. Day off-eve - use the coming down of the day to kick back and relax and enjoy freedom. By treating this as part of your day off, it gives you more time to enjoy it. You could spend the whole night in the bath, or sleep through the evening and stay up all night, spooning marshmallow fluff, no limits!

2. Be spontaneous - when you shake up your routine and try something new, your brain pays more attention to the details and the way you process time changes, time seems to last longer. 6am hikes are definitely optional, I prefer to opt for lovely and gentle things like watching the sunrise, going for

Ten ways to 'glow up' you haven't heard of yet...

I decided to make my own little version of 'how to glow up'. When I was around 15 I developed some awful version of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I had to make excuses to keep going to the toilets to check or almost prove to myself that I looked okay, I couldn't understand why I looked so wrong. I was desperately trying to maintain a state of decency because I could so easily slip in to looking absolutely

A mini Marie Antoinette inspired evening

Marie Antoinette blog beauty routine. Vintage girly aesthetic.
Here are my tips for making a Marie Antoinette inspired relaxing pamper routine, that will work for the smallest of budgets, things that will make every evening feel like a pyjama party. I really loved making 12 princessy things to do in your pyjamas, so here are some ingredients for an enchanted night in, to do anywhere, even in your friend's shower or sofa. Here are some things that will enhance your routine, make a space feel like a little retreat, and add a little extravagance to every day life...

. Use floral scented products in your routine. The Queen adored most ardently orange blossom, but also doted on floral fragrances, oils, potpourris like rose, violet, lavender, jasmine, lily, cloves and also the silk sweet innocence of vanilla. The rose range from The Body Shop here is perfect for this. I love checking out affordable offerings in my local supermarket or drugstores, you can find foamy bath soaks and silky bath oils that feel amazing. I absolutely love treaclemoon here in the UK.

. Add skin soothing sweet almonds, pine nuts or linseed to your bath for exfoliation, for super soft skin. The key to angelic soft skin is to exfoliate, exfoliate, ex-fo-li-ate. My favourite scrub is Soap and Glory's Breakfast Scrub, but you can also combine ingredients like brown sugar and coconut or olive oil together, a drop of vanilla essence to make something so similar, it works so well!

. Invest in a Turkish cotton bath towel - they are said to be goddess like but are more affordable than Egyptian cotton, the joy of hotel room towels but without the hefty price tag.

. Dress the body in almond oil, maybe the Almond Supple Skin Oil by L'Occitane. Almond was popular with the queen, every night she is said to have worn gloves filled or lined with wax, rose water and sweet almond oil to keep her hands soft. Another lovely ritual is to dress the nails with a strengthener, prime and/or polish with pretty sheer or pastel shades.

. Choose something light and flowy to wear, something relaxed you can swan about in. Marie Antoinette is known and was infamous for rebelling against the heavy dress code of the time and often rejected the opulence, and tight corsets in favour of pretty pastels and light, sheer, comfy and chemise like garments. I'm thinking about putting together a little wishlist of garments and pieces that are perfect for lounging at home, or donning as nightwear. Let me know if you'd like to see!

. According to records, her signature face mask consisted of four ingredients, two teaspoons of cognac, one egg white, one third of a cup of powdered milk and the juice of one lemon simply blended in to a paste. This is still used today, the citric and lactic acid dissolve dead skin cells, tighten pores, the cognac stimulates circulation and the egg repairs skin tissue. A powdered almond milk is a wonderful alternative to regular milk and you can even add a little vanilla essence.

. A silken pillowcase is often considered the epitome of luxury whilst sleeping. There is also the silk eye mask, both of which are known to be beneficial for the skin and any signs of aging. Treat dressing for bed as dressing for an occasion, deck even the tiniest space out with your freshest sheets, fresh and sweet scented fabrics, even lots of lovely fresh flowers - even flower petals to be extra extra.

. Make and sip some Jasmine tea and enjoy beautiful desserts, choose special marzipan delicacies or M&S macarons my fave, perhaps from a bakery or cafe in your town, cake shop, fruit market or even some pastries that you have made yourself. Maybe a slice of apple or rhubarb pie, depending on the season, eaten with a fork. Sometimes I dream about living in the city and just casually popping in to Laduree for a bag of macarons... or a box of Krispy Kremes works too!!
Choose special, beautiful, unusual desserts that delight the eyes as well as the tastebuds. The secret is to surround yourself with items that evoke joy within each of the senses.

. The queen used liquid based remedies, lotions and potions as part of her beauty routine. Now our modern ones are even more beautiful and advanced, such as specially formulated rose water sprays. Keep at your bedside to refresh, moisturise and even the complexion, plus smell delicious!

. Light candles for added effect. One would have dressed and undressed and bathed their face by candlelight, recreating that soft ambience can make you feel comfy, calm and soothed. An amazing alternative too is to use fairy lights and LED candles, they are much safer if you are ever to nod off straight away or have small children or animals around me plus no smoke or soot marks, voila!

A modern mini Marie Antoinette evening is never complete without watching the film with a bowl of marshmallows! PS The Duchess is currently free to watch on iPlayer too. I really hope you enjoyed this little guide or set of tips. I feel like incorporating any of these in to your routine will infuse a little luxe and fun in to every day life. Do you have a favourite historical drama? Let me know!

What I got for Christmas 2018!

I really love reading what people received for Christmas. For me it's like living the whole Christmas morning experience all over again through others eyes. They make me happy haha, I have about four open to read while I burn my spiced white cocoa candle. I love learning about each thing and the sentimental values behind them. I love looking at all the pretty things. I had a lot of fun making my own, but the best gift of all was enjoying a lovely festive period full of all my family on different days.

The first item I received was this super fluffy white Topshop fleece here from Mitch. It's like wearing a big marshmallow, so fluffy and comfy, like a mobile hibernation pod haha, so I even when I don't feel good I can cosy up in this and still look stylish lol. I want to live in it all winter.

I received the Boudoir Eyes palette by Too Faced, which I didn't ever expect. I had no idea anyone knew about my love for Too Faced and I absolutely love these previous editions. I think they have re released these palettes or made similar ones with different glossy packaging, but I love the older ones.
