I keep my dressing table next to my bed as a kind of bedside table, it fits nice and snug in the corner of my small room and I love that I can keep my makeup remover stuff close to my bed. I thought I would
make a little ‘what’s on there’ style post as I am nosy and absolutely love reading them haha. Eight times out of ten my bedside is never this tidy, I wake up to either Oscar taking everything off or it’s festooned with cars and wipes and probably toothpaste haha. I love rearranging my little space… tidy tidy catchy monkey. Monkey is that little boy who senses when I’ve just tidied, sneaks around in the night putting cars in the candle jars, books in the bed and pulling everything out of the drawers!
I usually keep a little tin of lipbalm by my bed and have been loving this Jolly Rancher lip balm I picked up on a whim in Accessorize. I couldn’t tell you how much I love watermelon flavoured things. It’s pink, smells like pure watermelon goodness, leaves a glossy finish and is really hydrating.
I have a new diary! This really sweet cat print book came from Urban Outfitters, the same place I bought my sloth book but this was in the sale for £3. I really love Central 23 notebooks, they have the quirkiest designs and come festooned with sloths, dogs, peaches, constellations or the Kardashians!
I finally bought a little pot of Sleepy body lotion from Lush. It smells like everything I thought it would and more. It’s like the smell of Mediterranean lavender mixed with the Twilight bath bomb… it makes me think of Lavender at dusk when everything is cooling, getting darker and the stars are coming out.
I love keeping it next to my bed and I tuck it in my white Disney mug in the hopes Oscar won’t find it and smear it everywhere
rip dior shower gel. This is the perfect summer scent for me but I know I’m going to love it all year round. Every time I pass my dressing table I slather some on, it’s really comforting to use. It makes for a beautiful bedtime ritual and I wish I had an endless pot of it.
The smell lingers for ages too. I only wish it wasn’t so expensive, it’s precious to me like gold dust haha. I think it’s meant to have some subtle shimmer, it was kind of sprinkled on top in silvery clumps but I’m not sure.
I also keep books by my bed, even though when I am finally able to settle down for slumber I am so tired I can barely make it to my bed haha. Bedtime routine expectations: post facemask, apply night cream/serum and get stuck in to a new read… bedtime routine reality: turn light out and fall over loads of stuff. I talked about my favourite titles at the moment in this post here and I can’t wait to devour Helen Dunmore’s ‘Ice Cream’ again.
I also keep a few gift bags and pretty mugs to keep
hide bits and bobs in, like this Alice in wonderland white rabbit purse! I’ve ordered some little Sass and Belle white suitcases, these ones here, to help me organise my treasures. I’m hoping Oscar won’t be able to figure out the locks on them for a while.
I am often lying in bed wondering ‘what is that nice vanilla smell?’. I love to collect Yankee votives as little room and draw fresheners but I’ve been so impressed by these candles from H&M at only 99p each. They are small but have seriously impressive throw and I love the cute ‘vintagey’ labels. I have ‘wildflower’ and ‘clean cotton’. I love that I can smell them from my bed, without even lighting them.
Apart from that I have my little white ‘sleep’ box, with crystals and shells to aid sleep. Haha I’m really glad Oscar doesn’t read my blog just as yet as he would have a field day
morning discovering all these things! I wish I could get locks on every draw – or some kind of force field haha ♡
