My goodness gracious boy and new baby launches!*

Toddler baby shabby chic blog update

I woke up this morning to a lovely smell at my bedside, a fragrance that was strangely familiar. It didn’t take me long to see the emptied bottle of Dior shower gel face down on my sheet and my whole dressing table

smeared in soap. This is the new normal, the Pandora bag on my dressing table had been scribbled in blue too!

My little Oscar turns 3 in two days, blossomed in to a mischevious and chivalrous little character with his own mind and wordly opinions, like telly is always a good idea and never leave Morrison’s without toys and sweets. I’m still getting my head around that I have a son, these sweet chubby arms, legs and bum cheeks and beautiful little smile! How did this happen? I’m still feeling my way and feeling brand new things every day.

What I’ve learnt… I’ve come to learn that wee really does go everywhere! That you have to secretly eat milkybar in the comfort of your fridge or risk eternal damnation, that he gets even cuddlier with age and that surprisingly toilet roll can provide hours of entertainment but be ridiculously impossible to roll up again! I love that he brings out my inner child, I will happily use precious energy on chasing him round the kitchen!

This brings me to the launch of brand new website and parenting, pregnancy and sexual health community Pregged.com! This is something I am thrilled to get behind and recommend, a zero taboo hangout, filled with advice from parents, psychologists and pharmacists, the go to place for parenting where you can share your deepest worries and scariest questions without any shame, fear or embarrassment.

I wish I had it there during pregnancy and the early days but can tell it’s still going to be so useful for me. I really think that parenting shouldn’t have to be undertaken alone, there’s so much taboo around asking for help and admitting we are struggling, when there are so many struggles for one person to handle. We always feel like we have to hide it and go it alone, appear like we have everything under control.

No topic is off limits, ranging from conception, contraception and pregnancy scares, to termination, mental and emotional well being and illness in pregnancy and parenthood through a partner’s eyes. It’s a really safe place to discuss all of these and more without fear of judgement. It’s open to everyone from all walks of life, whatever your experience, whether you are a parent or not. I love how it discusses all the weird things that parenting books didn’t cover, it’s lovely to read curled up with your morning orange juice milk or grabbing a quick moment to send in a question that’s been bothering you, I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Another exciting launch are these adorable baby and toddler booties by Bird Rock Baby! They are so sweet, I always wanted to purchase a pair of adorable slipper boots for Oscar when he was a baby. I’m thrilled to be able to try these, they are so sweet, soft and fleecy and everything I dreamed of. We put them on when he comes out of the bath, all clean and cosy. They come in different colours and sizes at only £10 a pair here!

They have a little popstud fastening, with three settings so you can just make them a little looser as your child’s feet get bigger, saving you the hassle of buying a larger size. We have the biggest size, 24months and Oscar’s feet are so big I was worried they wouldn’t fit him. We are on the middle setting though and they fit so well, I can see him being able to wear them through the summer, in to autumn and maybe next winter!

Every purchase feeds a child in need, which I think is amazing. Every time you buy a pair a child in need is fed for the day, through the partnered organisation Feed My Starving Children. I love how the soles stop little feet from slipping and sliding, soon Oscar was busy doing his running about from one end of the living room with ease, his daily workout haha. I think the ‘brb’ initials on the soles are so cute.

He speaks in sweet little broken sentences, often eight or nine words at a time! We love trying to guess what his accent is like (Mitch is from the West Midlands) He adores reading and role play, attending to his little plastic supermarket basket full of cardboard foods and helping us clean with his mini toy vacuum cleaner.

Lately we’ve been struggling with potty training, he gets very upset about the idea of the potty and not having a nappy on. Spending a whole day nappyless has become a huge challenge for both of us, Oscar constantly crying for his nappy on and me exhausting myself trying to soothe him and desperately mopping up the messes. It feels so crazy and difficult at the moment and leaves me feeling too tired to breathe. I really hope it will get better with time.

One of the biggest and sweetest developments since my last Oscar update here is his love of nursery rhyme and songs, he loves to sing along with his beautiful tiny little voice and he loves to sing them to us on his own too!

It’s so cute, I love that he knows the words and even reads them off the screen when we watch Tee and Mo Love Songs ‘mama ahh love yuuuu’. He chants ‘Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall’ and his favourite ‘Grand Old Duke of York’ while stamping and marching around in circles. He has discovered blowing bubbles in his drinks, rolling down hills on his belly and shaking his head super fast to make himself dizzy haha!

Here he is in action! He also loves to try handstands on the sofa he is doing it right now just as I write this nope now he is sabotaging my candles. His favourite phrases are ‘oh my goodness gracious me!’, ‘what a to dooo!’ and ‘only one’, whether he is asking for ‘only one little bit of milk’ or ‘just only one baby car’

For some reason, now the mornings are so light and hot, with the heatwave we have been having, he wakes regularly at 5am and comes to wake us up too! Fortunately this means he has started napping in the day again and has a siesta for hours in the afternoon. He naps until bedtime and then won’t want to go to sleep!

His favourite thing ever to do is to watch telly whilst filling his belly haha! When angry, he runs around going ‘Oscar don’t love mummy, he doesn’t’ and trying to smack everything in sight, his arms flapping and flailing.

Something that makes me melt is when he says ‘Oscar had a lovely day today mum my’, it means so much to have his feedback, especially when I am so tired! I adore our snuggles, they create a welcome little haven of cosiness, even on the hottest of days. He is always telling me things, little stories, anecdotes and happenings…

And definitely what he would like to buy! “What do you want for your birthday?” “Hmmmm lots and lots of big, beeeautiful cars”. Anyone mentions milk *heavy breathing* ♡
