I took my babe to Barbados, part two

Barbados Caribbean travel blog diary

Here is the second part to our adventure in the Caribbean last month. It’s a little breather from all the pink in my blog feed haha! Thank you so much for reading along too. Halfway through our stay we decided to explore

and took a trip around the island, stopping off at a wildlife sanctuary, the Flower Forest and along the East coast. I found it so tiring but absolutely wonderful, just driving around the island and the plantations was the most fun ever. Oscar went to sleep in the car but adored the animal sanctuary, he was so good the whole time.

This is one of my favourite captures, even though it’s a little blurred, I had to include it! I’ve no idea how I ended up with this snap but it makes me laugh, I love how overwhelmed Oscar looks seeing all of the animals together at feeding time. I’d love to get better at taking action shots… anyone want to win my forever affections and buy me the Mirrorless 12-60mm Lens camera?  Although I’m with Canon at the moment the first camera I ever started out with was a Panasonic and I’ve heard so many amazing things about the Lumix G9. It’s very ‘out there’ pricewise but a girl can dream this honestly should be the motto of my blog

This cute sign by the beach at Batsheba. The coast here was so different, it was much wilder and beautiful in an untamed way, with the same serene white sands but rougher waves and driftwood and different treasures lining the shore. This is so strange but I’ve always dreamt of climbing a palm tree. I didn’t try it this time!

I’m cheating and wearing pink haha, I guess it had to come out somehow! Please excuse no makeup face. Always find me by the shore, whether it’s by a lake or the ocean. I’m definitely unlike Moana in that I have no desire to leave it! Random fact about me: I get bad sea sickness so would make a terrible voyager/pirate.

The Eastern shore was so wild and beautiful, a stunning coastline of strewn cliff rocks and vegetation, it felt like a scene out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Just your average Disney girl over here! Everyone we encountered was so friendly, a Barbadian local told me all about Cornwall as he’d flown back from the UK that summer.

Shortly after, Oscar woke up moody from his nap. He plays a tantrum game now where he will turn incredibly indecisive and it is impossible to comfort him. He tells us ‘drink, drink!’ and when he is offered one he turns away ‘no, no drink!’ then starts undressing. It’s such a hard game to play when I’m already struggling but luckily he forgot all about it when we started talking to another group of tourists, and came over all shy.

I was a wide eyed child here along with Oscar, and that is what I love most about exploring new places, travelling and experiencing a different climate. This view reminds me of the scene in Moana “you are the future of our people… and they are not out there, they are right here. It’s time to be who they need you to be”

I swear there are two sides to me, one that longs to live in a treehouse in a tropical paradise and one that belongs in the rainy English Lakes. I grew up in a hilly, rocky, misshaped garden near the fells, with eucalyptus trees and foxgloves, avoiding ticks that arrived in summer from the deer and I have no experience with mosquitoes or any knowledge of island living. Yet you can’t help but feel at home here.

The Flower forest was my favourite place on the trip, it was cool, shady and smelt amazing. Oscar started complaining when I hung back to snap the beautiful plants up close, it felt like a jungle with all the vines.

A gorgeous little shelter in the middle of the Flower forest where we stopped to breathe and see the view.

I was so tired and struggling to move when we got back but it was worth it. The first part to my Barbados diaries is here, it’s been so fun writing them up and a break from the pink haha! I have so many dreams and things I’d love to save up for, to travel, go back here, drive… the list goes on! What are you saving for? ♡

Barbados looks beautiful. As a matter of fact, the last time I went was over 7 years ago. It was so gloriously beautiful when I went and I see that hasn't changed. Actually ,I'm from a small island called Saint Vincent which is near to Barbados 😊
