Happy Holidays everyone, I hope you’re having an extra special time or just giving yourself some lovely rest! Right now I’m watching the new rendition of Little Women. Here are my thoughts on the
Nutcracker inspired Too Faced Sugar Plum Fun set, a US exclusive. I managed to find this one on ebay, I ummed and ahhed for so long because it was so expensive but I had to get it to come to the UK!
I’m making it my mission for the new year to only purchase things I am utterly in love with, as I am
poor and such a hoarder. The box has so many hidden details, little Nutcracker designs, dancing sugar plum fairies, swirly script and gold adornments, it’s something to treasure forever.
The set contains the Sugar Plum Fun palette, Creme lipstick in shade Sugar Fairy and full sized Better than Sex mascara and eyeshadow primer. All of the products have such beautiful packaging and would make such beautiful keepsakes, even when empty!
I am a hoarder
Here it is! The shades are beautiful and the names are so precious… “Vanilla Snowflake“, “Midnight Soiree“, “Drummer Girl“. There are a total of eight matte shades and eight shimmers. I’ve become so accustomed to Too Faced palettes smelling delicious that it’s curious to own one that isn’t scented!
I love the selection of shades, some delicate and some standout and they go together beautifully! Some apply better than others, some are a little chalky on the lid, where others have really surprised me. Vanilla Snowflake is a soft matte white, Magic Touch a shimmery peach hue, Fairyland a delicate cream shade, Ballerinas is a soft matte rose pink, Tip Toe is a matte fawn shade that shows up more light and peachy on the skin, Music Box is a deep, shimmery chocolate shade with pink lilac glitter.
Sparkly Wings is a rich, shimmery dark pink with beautiful gold glitter, but struggles to show, Fantasy Land is a sumptuous creamy caramel with gold shimmer, Candy Fairy is a delicate, soft matte lilac that looks chalky but performs surprisingly well, Land of Sweets is a beautiful, rich, matte jewel purple.
Tutus and Tiaras is a beautiful metallic beige shimmer, Drummer Girl is a bubblegum pink with lilac glitter, though sadly only the glitter shows up, Purple Peppermint is a rich, gleaming purple that accords perfectly with Land of Sweets, Midnight Soiree is a dreamy, matte intensely pigmented soot grey, Metal Petal is a beautiful, dreamy lilac silver shimmer and Nutracker, a silky, little muddy, matte taupe.
Here is the Creme de la Creme lipstick in Sugar Fairy. It’s one of those items that is almost too pretty to use, it’s a really love peach pink hue, so wearable with any outfit. It’s ultra creamy and moisturising, though has a waxy, milky lemon fragrance that I’m unsure about, somehow it reminds me of medicine.
Also hiding along with the palette is the coveted Better than Sex mascara. I’ve only used the travel size and this is so much easier to use, it produces a much more dramatic effect for me as the wand is bigger.
This is my first time trying the eye primer and I’ve been bowled over by it, it’s so lovely to use. It really does intensify the colour of the shades so I get more use out of the paler ones and enhances the look of the eyeshadows. It also makes the shadows easier to work with, they go on all buttery and blendable.
It’s the perfect winter makeup set, the box alone is true to Too Faced packaging and is such a pretty thing to display in your room. It makes me feel all excited and fizzy inside just catching a glimpse of it!
This is my favourite Too Faced holiday set, it’s so beautiful and thoughtful, I adore the Nutcracker references as it’s one of my favourite ballets and soundtracks of all time. The whole set looks almost good enough to eat! I’m thrilled to have this in my collection to love and adore
and stare at. Thank you so much for reading my blog this year, it means so much! ♡
