My Hogwarts letter came and it had flowers inside. Or that’s what I thought. The packaging for these is so beautiful! They are Face Florals, carefully dried and pressed flower heads, petals and flakes that you can use to
create botanical masterpieces on your face, to enhance your makeup looks, by creative founder Hanna Webb.
They come in such a pretty box, with tissue paper inside. Hidden inside are little tubs and sachets, one of dried flower petals, a sachet of entire flower heads: beautiful lobelia and violas, and a tub containing a special glue.
These also came with a darling little instruction guide, so helpful. Not carrying tweezers, I dabbed them on with my fingers and they were surprisingly easy to apply with a careful hand. They are very delicate and are quite difficult to remove in one piece, so it is handy to use an eyeliner pen first to mark where they might go.
My biggest question was for how long they would stay put and how might they fare in Lake District weather. Fortunately we had the perfect event to test this as it began to rain a great deal just as we had set up for photos.
Rather than hopping back over the wall home, we half took shelter under a tree until the rain eased, the sun came out, the woods were steaming and so we decided to stay and dried along with it. Well, almost! Our new home means a new meadow to explore, full of grasshoppers and long grasses with raindrops hanging from their feathery tips. This is how you would have found me, hair matted, hem sodden, droplets down my cheeks.
Rain is said to be good for the complexion and Mitch joked that Mother nature was trying to take back the flowers from my face! Before settling down for autumn projects, there is time to enjoy the very last of the summer, that finger thumb space, a divine little pocket of warmth that means freedom before the work begins.
I am wearing a selection of lobelia, carefully according with the blue in my outfit. I have been so impressed by the glue, strong enough to hold them in place, (they remain untouched and unsmudged by the rain) yet doesn’t cause my skin to itch or burn. It is a little tricky to remove but it will be so perfect and easy to use at festivals.
The blouse I am wearing is a Topshop number I found in the sale for only £10. It is ideal for this time of year, practicable, breathable, comfy cotton that dries quickly; I adore the flared sleeves and ruffles. The skirt is second hand and holds the most elegant shape, yet it affords flexibility and aides me in scaling walls and gates.
My ring is the oldest part of my outfit, once belonging to my great great grandmother (with the same name as me!). It contains moonstone and was second hand when she bought it. I love to think that it’s still being worn all this time later, I wonder how many hands it has touched, how many stories it knows.
I want to bid Hanna a huge thank you for transforming my outfit, it is always such a pleasure to wear nature in my hair, on my clothes, and now on my face. If you are a flower lover or love swanning about in meadows when it’s sunny you can find Face Florals on Etsy here and follow them for beautiful inspirations!

Oh my they look so fun! I don't have the patience to use them. I'm more of a simple and straight forward kind of gal when it comes to makeup. I'm loving your photo's!
Wow, what stunning photographs! I would never have considered buying or wearing something like these flowers but seeing them here would definitely make me reconsider. I can't tell you how envious I am of your Lake District home – what a dream, and the outfit and photographs here more than do such a wondrous place justice. My favourite thing here though has to be your precious ring; I have a similar heirloom and wonder just the same things all the time.
