Today I have a little treat to review, in the form of a Too Faced lipstick haul! While visiting Birmingham earlier this month I finally got the chance to swatch some long term favourites in
Everything I swatched seemed amazing; I was particularly struck by the highlighters and Melted shades, they have such amazing pigmentation! I spent a long time umming and ahhing over Chocolate Cherries, but I felt a bit nervous going for such a dramatic shade right away! In the end I went for Chocolate Honey as a safe bet, as it was my first try, and I’m so glad I did.
One of my favourite things about these is that they smell absolutely delicious! They are the most heavenly lip products I’ve ever come across, smelling like chocolate sauce and vanilla, or brownie batter. Although they share the same scent, the shades are quite different.
Here are swatches of the two shades: Metallic Candy Bar is on top and Chocolate Honey is below. Metallic Candy Bar has a slightly shimmery, frosted finish, almost like a gloss, and is a bit more translucent than the latter as a result. It gives you a nice, nude brown tint of colour and feels really smooth and moisturising, even after wearing it for a while. I feel that it’s more of a brown-beige shade, whereas Chocolate Honey has a warm-pinkish tint, which makes the latter my favourite shade. I feel like these will both look lovely on all skin tones and are very versatile, although Chocolate Honey will compliment warm skin tones very well.
Chocolate Honey is a fully opaque, matte shade, just like Melted Fig here, and tends to be a bit drying after a while of wearing it. The longevity is amazing with this one, however, I would compare it to a stain as, once the initial ‘smudgey’ lipstick layer wears off, it lasts for hours. After swatching these, I was left with a mark on my arm for days from Chocolate Honey. It is more of a coral-brown shade, which is more suited to my skin tone and such a pretty nude, it’s beautiful!
I cannot forget the packaging either, it’s so lovely and feels like a lot of thought has gone in to it, with the little gold adornments. I still can’t bring myself to throw the boxes away! They have a felt nib for easy application, just like Melted Fig and you get a lot of product in each tube. The only con is the price as they retail at £19 each here at Debenhams, but are cheaper in the US. For me though, they are so beautiful it is worth saving my pennies for them!
Have you tried Too Faced before? Thanks so much for your lovely words – I’d love to check out your links too! I’m also following back on all social media if you’d like to find me on there! ♡
