Now Oscar has come back from holiday and is almost at his 4 month mark on 10th September! He is now about 17 weeks old so we are counting his age in months. He is much more alert at the moment, especially in the day and is doing wonderfully sleeping through the night. In France he slept in his pop up cot and adjusted very well, going to sleep at about 8 or 9pm and waking about 7am. When he wakes in the morning he often has a good hour practising talking to himself and then starts grizzling for attention! We often find him swivelled upside-down in his cot though and have had to put the side up now on his co-sleeper one.
He naps a lot throughout the day still, and slept for most of the plane ride although there was quite a bit of fidgeting in the air! We have noticed he has grown a lot more feathery hair recently; it glows slightly auburn in the sun and we think it may grow lighter. I just love the smell of babies hair – it smells like warm milk! The biggest development this time is how he is learning to grasp things with his hands and reaches out to grab objects, such as his bottle – and any hair that is within his reach! He usually comes away with fistfuls of it in his little hands (ouch!). We are learning more about his personality every day – he prefers to be carried up high so he can look around at everything, likes being around other people and practising sitting and standing up. He is getting a lot stronger and manages to sit up himself for a few seconds when being winded!
Oscar has just started to teethe lately, chewing his fists and drooling everywhere; I think this is why he has been particularly fidgety and has periods of bad mood. We are waiting for a weigh in by the Health Visitor and are excited to start trying him with a small amount of mushy veggies soon, after we get the go-ahead!
