Bluebell woods

It's very much the time for bluebells and wild garlic, and the smell of this is everywhere.
About four young deer came along when the rain stopped, and took me by surprise!
Luckily they didn't notice me and carried on playing in the bluebells...
How was your week?

Now is the month of Maying

Figs & Rouge balm ♥ New handkerchiefs ♥ Nars Turkish Delight ♥ Actual Turkish Delight! ♥ Nip & Fab's Mango Smoothie butterNew hair combSwing dresses!

Things I'm looking out for this month... I received the Figs & Rouge balm and Mango Smoothie not so long ago by GlossyBox and have already run out of both! F&R do an amazing multipurpose balm and the little tin is too cute. The body butter doesn't actually smell much like Mango to me, more a fruity candy scent I've been using as a handcream :D
Also here, new handkerchiefs as I lose them so easily! They also look nicer to carry around than bits of tissue, especially for someone who seems to have permanent hayfever. Hair comb needed for making hair look somewhat decorative. I am loving these swing dresses since the weather got warmer. (Please stay warm.)
Nars Turkish Delight is a recent addition to my wishlist and I'm saving up my pennies! In the meantime I shall make do with actual Turkish Delight... hehehe.

What have you been looking out for this month?

Hello baby

Last week I found my lovely Leo had got run over. He's been my best friend since I was ten, and I miss him waking me up in the mornings. It's so sad when this happens, it's so common, I still can't believe it.
Since, I have had the pleasure of acquainting with this little cat. I can't expect him to ever replace my Leo but making a new little friend is helping a bit.

"Lord, Miss Elizabeth! did you walk here?"

I did, a good five miles on foot along the old road, grown over with ferns and lady's smock. Everything has greened out over the past month, despite the drizzle! I love being able to walk from one town to the next, especially when it's not along the main road. Sometimes it's nice to get away from noise and cars and often there's not a soul up here. There are many shortcuts across the fields but some are hardly used so the stiles are really grown over.
These old walls are collapsing inwards - it makes me wonder how horses and cart could've scarce fitted between them. There's a stone slab that interrupts it - where they used to put the milk urns - and hawthorn 'bread and chesse' in the hedges. Nice to imagine how things were over a hundred years ago, I wish I could go back and take pictures!
...  especially, as now great care has to be taken to ensure the avoidance of electricity cables!

Spring garden

Yesterday was a miracle because it actually wasn't raining!
Although chilly, we had many sunny intervals and it was more pleasant to work in the garden than the house. Glad to see quite a few rhododendrons out, seeing the bluebells off.
Gardens are nice because you have a sense of time standing still, nothing to interrupt the age old cycle of planting, growing, harvesting. Not that there are many vegetables this year, as the deer come over the wall and eat everything! We still have cabbages though, and some broccoli. Lots of apple blossom!

Flyaway hair

My day today was spent tying my hair in to knots, quite literally. I decided to try my hand at hair braiding; I'd like a neat way to keep hair off my face at college - and I love these Victorian/Edwardian styles! It puzzles me how they used to do their hair so intricately in those times, without hairspray or bobbles, just ribbon and pins!
After several dismal attempts I finally managed to do half a decent braid... I'll keep practicing a bit each day - I'll promise you some picture tutorials!

For thick hair, mid-back length: 1. Part hair in a Y part 2. Braid back section and wrap in a bun impossibly low on the nape of the neck. Pin. 3. French roll the side hair and twist until it folds back on itself. 4. Pin this over the top of the bun, hiding the straggly hair ends 5. repeat for other side and lay the twist over the top of the first twist and pin.
Admittedly, this is much harder than it looks -
I may need a great deal more hair pins before I manage to get the hang of it. Extensions might also be a good idea if you hair is thin at the ends like mine, you can shop quality women hair wigs at NewhairBuy

Cho would like her hair doing too svp!

Here I decided to have a go at MoneySupermarket's 'Passion for Fashion' competition and see what I could come up with! The idea is to create three themed outfits - 'Casual', 'Holiday' and 'Party' - all within the £200 mark. I headed straight for New Look first because their clothes are super affordable - they always have offers on - and worked really well with my ideas! I will link back to each item after I publish so you can view the clothes on the site :) As it turns out I love bohemian fashion. A lot!

Casual Look - 'Variety is the spice of life' = £98.44
This is me finding an outfit I would wear casually, probably in the summer. I love the earthy colours and layers, and adding a dash of bright coral really livens it up. I also love how it looks casual and 'thrown on', the faded denim giving a vintage touch. The patterns on the top are gorgeous and bring some Eastern flair, likewise with the jewellery. Friendship and charm bracelets are also really fun to make so I might save a penny and create my own!
Holiday look - 'Golden Sands' = £128.96
Here I've gone all romantic with the flowy dress and cowboy boots. I mentally called this look 'Golden Sands' because it would be perfect for strolling along the beach in the evening :) The colours in the outfit mimic the sea and white sand so it would harmonise with my surroundings if I were on holiday. The gold jewellery illuminates the outfit and the Buddha faces add bohemian spice. The lattice bag is a cute vintage touch!
Party look - 'Daisy daisy' = £102.94
I've kept it quite formal/sophisticated with monochrome colours, but there's still an element of fun with the playsuit, which is a creative alternative to a dress. The flower earrings are really cute, the pastel pink turning it a little parisian chic. And the floral cardi makes for a sweet vintage twist, recollecting 60's style!
This was so much fun to create in my lazy Tuesday afternoon!

#Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Instead of the usual chocolate egg I received these really cute biscuits from Biscuit Village! They came in a little tin box with yellow tissue paper, in a variety of flower/animal designs - I love the liddle chicky one ♥ Almost too nice to eat!
I hope you have a lovely day!

New header!

Et voila! I was recently browsing and totally fell in love with the header there! The lovely Harriet Gray does amazing drawings like these but being the art student I am, decided to have a go at designing my own. I started off sketching and not really expecting it to amount to anything but ended up spending all last night on it haha and this is the result, after being edited a little on PicMonkey. I used an ordinary HB pencil and putty rubber on A4 paper before photographing. I think it gives a nice homemade feel to my blog and I was pleased to have made it myself :)
I'm also really excited about Doctor Who tomorrow - and of course Easter! I'm like a little kid when it comes to this so I really fear for my diet. I've also seen a few bloggers incorporating clever Easter puns in to their posts, I thought that was cool!
But anyway, being the total fashioneaster I am I might add a little decoration around the sketch when I get round to it haha

What do you think?

Pre-April showers

Hello again! I've been in a bit of a confusing place this month due to coming off my medication for a few days, meaning some days have been zombie-ish, others incredibly anxious. Plus the weather doesn't seem to know what it's doing haha! I just wanted to take this time though to say a big thankyou to my lovely followers! I'm now up to 400 on GFC and am so sad about the rumours Google will get rid of it. Guess I'll have to get BlogLoving! :)
The things I've reached for most this month are definitely handcreams; there's been blizzard-like conditions for days where I live, so a deep nourishing cream has been much needed during this wintry spell. Also some new chance discoveries that I've fallen for...

1. Rituals 'Magic Touch' - Whipped Body Cream in 'Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk'
I've only just rediscovered this after abandoning it in my draw, but it's even beat S&G's 'Hand Food' for me at the moment. I love the calming summery smell and it hydrates my hands really nicely. I like that the texture is really light and whipped, and reminds me of squirty cream!

2. M&S's Autograph EDT in 'Inspire'
I never really go for the fragrance aisle at M&S; they tend to be a bit floral and grannyish for me, but I went shopping with my mum a few weeks back and was really drawn to this little bottle. It's quite floral and sweet but totally reminds me of Ghost fragrances, it's got that sort of rose/Turkish Delight feel about it and I was totally smitten. It's cheaper aswell at just a fiver, so next time you're in M&S do check them out, they have a lovely range of perfumes!

3. Percy&Reed Shampoo in 'Colour & Shine'
Got this - I think - with this month's Glamour magazine and was really chuffed as I've always wanted to give P&R's products a go. It claims to make your hair super shiny and I've definitely been noticing a difference; it also seems to make my hair more manageable right after I've washed it which is nice :) It's replaced my Herbal Essences and I would love to repurchase, though I wish you could get more in a bottle.

4. Coconut Blush Bath bombs/creamers in Geranium and Ylang Ylang/Patchouli
This was a random gift from a friend and I was interested to see if the bath bombs could top Lush's in terms of performance. I hadn't heard of the company before but they're based in the Peak District and make these sweet little handmade bath treats. I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't expecting them to be so softening on the skin, they're amazing! No you don't get the whoop bam fizz of Lush bombs but they're so calming and pretty with little flower petals and lovely oils :)

What are you loving this month? Will you be moving to BlogLovin'? ♥

Things I Heart - summer colours

I've decided to make this blog more of a personal journey/diary thing; I feel like documenting each day rather than designated posts lol; I think it would also help spur me on on my weight loss journey - also thankyou very much for the lovely supportive comments I got on my last post! They're so encouraging!

Slim by Summer challenge progress

I’m sat here cradling a SlimmingWorld magazine and a sneaky packet of Rowntree’s Randoms. I don't cut sweet stuff completely out of my diet, but try to choose them in moderation. For around 2 weeks now I've been being sensible about eating - avoiding the chip shop and getting more fruit, while eating around 1200-1300 cals a day (never lower!). So far I've lost 5.3 pounds which I never thought I'd achieve in this time! My stats(in pounds):

Starting weight: 147+
Current weight: 141
Goal weight: 120+

I started putting on a lot more weight going through a few bad anxiety patches. I comfort ate a lot to calm myself and couldn't go out to burn it off, so I was at the heaviest I'd ever been, at one point nearly 11 stone.
Not wanting to get myself any further stuck in a rut I joined up to MyFitnessPal and began challenging myself. I ate a (much) reduced version of my previous diet, but skipping junk out and adding more fruit+veg+protein in - it also really helped to record everything I'd been eating. I don't recommend eating less than 1200 at all! Not only will you put more weight on afterwards but it'll make you feel miserable, hence you're more likely to give in.
Thanks for reading - I'm so sorry for not posting in a while! x

Have you got a summer challenge?

Rimmel 'Wake me up' and update

Haha, well first I have to apologise for the mini break I've been taking from blogging. It's mostly because I'm going through a bit of a bad patch with my anxieties at the moment. I have so many worries and I haven't felt like doing anything :( Anyhow, today I've made an effort and jazzed the look up a bit, so I feel like something's been accomplished.
The diddy sweets in the pictures came from M&S; they're sugar free so I can have them on my 'diet' when I get a sweet tooth 8)

L'Oreal Nude Magique CC cream

I've gone a bit beauty reviewsy lately but I'm sure I'll make up for it soon haha
The other day I popped in to Boots and checked out the new range of CC creams by L'Oreal. It really grabbed me I must say - though I found the BB creams a bit of a washout, I found it interesting that they use different colours like green and lilac to improve your skin tone. I've always had red patches on my face and uneven colour and I wish they'd brought this out sooner so I didn't look like an oompa loompa in Year 10!

GlossyBox February 2013

Wow! I was so surprised to find my GlossyBox had come this morning and was sitting on the table all waiting to be unwrapped! I wanted to dive in straight away but, wanting to share it with you, held back until I had my computer loaded properly. I'll be unwrapping it as I go - so lets get started!

Valentino Red's "Marie Antoinette meets Alice in Wonderland"
I discovered this whilst browsing on Polyvore - and instantly fell in love with the doll-like outfits, pastel colours and gorgeous prints! Pale shades and black just go so well together!

Yes I am aware it's not February yet (lol) but I want to do this early and leave time to actually grant my wishes in the upcoming month :) That and I'm already pretending it's pancake month, for breakfast's sake!
So I'll whip out my maple syrup and ring in the month with some decorative goodies from my wishlist...

Message from a Snowed Under

Dear readers, gosh, how I need one of these right now...
I am here, melting, in the delicious warmth over a nice chocolatey kinder bar.
I've done a few snow posts before but nothing compares to what we got today: absolute chaos! A blizzard decided to descend upon my small town and I am completely buried in. I realized there was actually no point on wearing makeup in the snow; for one, it would have quickly dissolved under the amount of snow that blew in my face. For another, there was no need: the fast blowing flakes stung and whipped my cheeks redder than MAC’s Frankly Scarlet! I spent the afternoon today reviewing two lovely conditioners, which I can't wait to post tomorrow, but my glossy locks have since been frizzified – is that a word? – by the weather. Hair plus blizzard = definitely nicht gut!
I've also been fiddling about with HTML again and now have a set of lovely social buttons at the top right! I've just discovered Bloglovin and really like it - I'd be the happiest girl online if you could take the time to follow me on there! :D I promise to follow back of course!
Hehe don't get me wrong, I love the snow! Just in smaller, more manageable proportions.

Are you Bloglovin too?

As the day is fading, on White Houses

These silly little wounds will never mend, I feel so far from where I've been
So I go, and I will not be back here again. I'm gone as the day is fading, on White Houses...
I love a sunny day in January because the sky looks all pearly and lit up and everything feels fresh. Maybe a promise of spring?

What's in my shower?

Hello Neffi! ♥

There's only one of Neffi's kittens left now and she seems a bit down, even though she still has squawky little Merlin for company! I found her sat on the banister looking out of the window. I don't think she was in the picture taking mood as she eventually got bored and sloped off upstairs. That's cats for you! :)

TBS Atlas Mountain Rose Oil ♥

...And breathe. A beautiful name for such a little bottle of loveliness.

"Escape to the valley of roses. A concentrated perfume oil infused with Atlas Mountain Rose. This bright, dewy blend of floral accords was inspired by dawn in a field of blossoming roses."
