Macarons, blush suede and Lush

Laduree and Lush shopping haul
I recently made my very first Laduree purchase after visiting the store for the first time. Even though the store was teeny, visiting was such an experience in itself! It was a paradise cave of beautiful desserts, dainty cakes,
pastries... a queue quickly forming outside, just like Clara in 'Ice Cream', I was forced in to making a decision.

Laduree know how to delight every one of your senses. Their packaging is enchanting, encasing such beautiful little cakes, I was torn between eating everything on the spot and saving them until I got home for pictures in my pink cave. Being me I also found time to pop in to beautiful Lush Oxford street... here is what I bought.

I chose macarons in flavours Salted Caramel, Vanilla, Orange Blossom, Rose Petal, Liquorice and Marshmallow Strawberry Candy. Compared to previous macarons I have tried, the fillings are so light, creamy and melt in your mouth. The flavours are fragrant and delicious, especially Rose Petal and Orange blossom.

My favourite of all was the Salted Caramel. The others were very sweet but this had such an authentic flavour, the caramel inside was divine, smoky and moreish. I love that this one has a flower petal in its hair attached!

This raspberry rose giant macaron was mesmerising. It being my first experience of Laduree, I decided to treat myself and purchase one! I was so worried about getting it home in one piece; I peeled back the box with baited breath and it was miraculously intact, save for a few raspberries on top that had fallen from their perch.

My photos were taken a day or so after purchase and the petal atop had withered a little, although I was impressed it had remained all in one piece! I had never seen such a beautiful biscuit, nor raspberries of that size before. They were incredible, gigantic! The fist sized shell pieces shared the same delicate flavour and fragrance as the Rose Petal macaron and the tang of the raspberries complimented this perfectly.

Inside was the same rosewater, lychee cream filling and the whole macaron came on a little gold dish. Despite its elegant appearance, this is definitely a dessert one has to practise eating as there are so many layers of filling! Messy to attempt, the flavours are so delicate and go so well together, it is a treat for all of the senses.

On hearing that the Comforter shower cream was being discontinued, I finally seized my moment and picked up a taster bottle of this to try. I'm gutted I didn't select a bigger size! Warm, velvety cassis meets sweet, unravelling vanilla and the scent lingers on your skin for hours afterwards. I love how Lush shower gels pack such a punch. To celebrate midsummer, I also picked up Tisty Tosty, a floral favourite of mine.

Curiosity got the better of me and I also ended up in Jo Malone for the first time, poring over the beautiful names and scents in slick glass bottles. Things escalated and before I knew it I was having a hand massage at the front desk and this little pot of body cream pushed in to my palm as a freebie. I chose the scent Peony and Blush Suede and it honestly smells of birthdays haha, you can definitely detect the peonies!

Have you ever visited a Laduree before? I wish there was one in the Lake District. I definitely recommend the Salted Caramel, Orange Blossom and Rose Petal macarons, they are enchanting. I think you can buy online here also; this not sponsored but from a girl that spends too much time macaron window shopping!

  4. The salted caramel macaron sounds like it was heavenly! The rapsberry pastry is beautiful and must have been just as good. Even though I'm in Paris, where Ladurée is king, I've never tried their macarons. But I know I won't resist their yummy pastries and cute packagings forever haha!

  6. Your writing is so poetic! I have never seen another person describe macarons and shower gels so beautifully, haha! I have never heard of Laduree until now-- but that may be simply because I live in America. It certainly looks like a place to visit.

  12. This post takes me back to Paris! We raided the Laduree shop and ate so many macarons, I couldn't look at one when I got home. Your photos are so beautiful and perfect for Laduree. I want to go back, the rose ones were my absolute favourite.

  16. Whenever I was in London I'd pick up an 8 pack from Laduree in Covent garden :-9
I have since learned how to make macarons and it isn't too hard and they're so YUMMY. I was wondering if that raspberry sandwich would be super messy to eat!
