Must haves for small homes

There are many lovely things about living in a small home or space; it's super cosy and encourages you to adopt a more minimal style of living, especially if you are a hoarder like me! However, here are some
sneaky hacks that help me make the most of my space and secretly stash even more in my room.

Over - and under - head storage - I love to use the top of my wardrobe as an additional shelf and decorate with perfumes and bits and bobs. I also like to hoist my dresses on the doors, it keeps them crease free and gives me extra space in my clothes draw! I also use storage boxes and cute little suitcases under Oscar's cot. These are especially helpful for his clothes that aren't in season or those he has grown out of.

Trinket dishes - these are so great for keeping all kinds of bits and bobs in and help to bring dressing table vibes to your bedside table or shelf, when you have no space for one. I found this delicate deer number in the shop Kenji for only £3.50; the shabby chic, mori style vibes caught my eye straightaway!

Fold-able objects - vehicles like bikes and pushchairs are essential for us, but with limited space it is so difficult to accommodate them. A little research later and I'm committed to saving up my pennies for a Brompton Bike haha! I'd love to go on little tricycle rides with Oscar and love how light and compact it looks to fold up, perfect for taking on the bus. The clever size means I can easily slide it under, or down the side of the bed, cleverly folding to save our floor from muddy marks it even comes in ivory.

Over the door hooks - these babies are amazing! I love these rose gold ones from Primark, they are so stylish. I like to collect tote bags, fill them with bits, bobs and stationary and use these to hang them on the back of my door and airing cupboard. You can use them to hold anything, dresses or jewellery!

Install lots of shelves and hooks - having lots of shelves makes our flat feel so snug and cosy, almost like a Hobbit home! They are perfect for storing books, making little nooks out of them and for keeping things out of Oscar's reach. I love how you can get so creative organising them and I love to wind flower garlands around mine! I often use the wall hooks in our room to hang bags, purses and keyrings.
I'm always swooning over the IKEA showroom interiors but it has often occurred to me that they are devoid of the clutter, of all the little things and pieces that make up everyday life. I'm learning as I go, how to style and embrace all those stray, awkward items to make even our tiniest home cottage cute!

    2. I agree with you that lovely things about living in a small home or space encourages us to accept a more negligible style of living. I am impressed by you after knowing about your home decorating intelligence if home cottage is small. However I am working women at CV Folks where I am working as writer for care assistance CV - https://www.cvfolks.co.uk/care-assistant-cv/ , so could not have enough time to decorate my home like this. But I wish to decorate my home with amazing thing and make it a dream home. Thanks for a wonderful article!

  6. Over the door hooks are super useful, and I didn't know Primark had some rose gold ones, that's really cute! I also live in small places in the UK since I'm on my own, so storage is the main issue for me. I've made sure to find a place for next September with a lot of built-in wardrobes and storage!

  12. Those tips are amazing! :) I love IKEA, but it needs a little more to make it feel like home. By the way, those bikes (not Brompton brand, we have another) are super affordable and usual in Czechia. Unfortunately, they aren't so comfy to ride on.

  13. So many great ideas here for saving space. I personally like to always feel cosy so fill whatever space I'm in. I'd hate to live in a huge house haha. Now we've started buying things for our little one, I'm amazed at how someone so small could need so much stuff. I'll definitely have to employ some of these space saving ideas to get it all in!

  19. It may be small, but my goodness, your home is beautiful! I love all the feminine accents everywhere and your ability to come up with such creative ways to create more storage space! Our flat in London was tiny (especially for three people), but I loved its old charm and how nearly every wall had some sort of storage space in it. It just felt so cozy!
