The Midsummer ball

Recently I've been inspired by #TheGirlGang 'Dinner party' chat on twitter, where we talked about our dream dinner get together. I thought it would be fun to dream up my own
midsummer ball or party. I'd love to have an event where we all dress up like Disney's princesses!

What do you think of my picks? I love the romantic neckline of number four, it reminds me of a Jane Austen period gown, while the sweetheart neckline of number five is so pretty! Number two looks like something Aurora might wear. Along with traditional white flowing dresses, I've also cheated and included some pretty pink gowns. The floaty pink tulle layers are so fairy-like.
I honestly really wish we still had traditional balls and dances, like in the old days. It was an essential part of courting at the time, an occasion where young women were presented to society once they had come of age, in order to make social connections and affirm membership in a certain social class. Fast forward a bit and my Grandma fondly remembers dances as 'a chance to meet boys'! she was super tall and towered over them, bless her!

What would your midsummer ball look like? Would you wear formal gowns and adorn your table with edible flowers? Or don pyjamas and order pizza! Pokemon Go being compulsory.
