Jess Woods' valentines bath kit

A little belated for Valentines day but I couldn't wait to try out one of Jess Woods' own fairy-esque homemade bath kits, after being a long term admirer of hers. I waited up until one in the
morning when the shop opened (8pm est time) and am really happy that I managed to bag one. I love that everything is made from scratch, it's such an amazing skill to have to be able to produce your own cosmetics and household concoctions! I'm really happy to support another blogger too, it matters a lot more to me than buying from big brands - it always seems extra personal too! - and I will always try to support little businesses first if possible.

Upon receiving my parcel and stripping the packaging down to the tissue paper layer, I could already smell a heavenly jasmine-rose-vanilla aroma: I don't think I've ever smelt anything as beautiful or angelic before. To many perfumes there is a synthetic quality, often a hint of 'plastic' as I like to call it! This was like opening freshly baked bread, it smelled so pure, fresh and dreamy. What astounded me was how much care and attention had gone in to preparing my package and products inside it, especially as it is Jess herself who puts them together!

There's so much in one package, including rose scented himalayan bath salts, a little pink drawstring bag containing an assortment of items - rose scented soy tea light candles, caramel candy handmade bath oil, cotton muslin bag, pink tourmaline and amethyst in a heart shaped case and a red heart lollipop as a cute touch! - and a little pink printed pamphlet detailing all of the products, ingredients and properties of the different healing herbs, crystals and oils.

A second little translucent drawstring bag contained a mini rose quartz vial and little love hearts, with super sweet printed messages. Meanwhile a third contained a mixed herb sachet with lavender, jasmine, chamomile, rosemary, peppermint, lemon balm, eucalyptus, yarrow, rose buds and petals and these together are exactly what the package smells like. It all looks so aesthetically beautiful and includes a little thank you heart label with Jess' store address on the back! The containers will also be so nice to use once their contents have been used up.
I would definitely recommend trying one of these kits, it's such an experience and all the hard work and talent put in to the packages is completely worth it price wise! The scent is so gorgeous, like wandering in a flower field or a huge garden at the height of rose season, so soothing and uplifting. It's really inspiring and I cannot wait to see what Jess comes up with next.

Have you ever tried out homemade cosmetics?

  7. Oh my, this is amazing! Handmade stuff is always the best, and you know the people who sell these love what they do and just want to share it with people. The smell sounds so nice, and it is all very well packaged. I'm checking out Jess' store straight away, thanks for the discovery!
