I have to admit I always avoided Rimmel's products, purely because I found anything I bought didn't suit me. The foundations were patchy and stained my dry skin orange and the mascaras clumped a lot. I loved their nail polishes though, and having not tried a lip product of theirs I decided to pick up 'Nova' from the new lip lacquer 'Apocalips' range :)
The packaging is pretty, complete with a cute geometric shaped cap. The applicator wand collects a lot of product at once, which I find good as you don't need to keep fishing for more. Just one swipe will do the trick! I think the formula smells a bit like cucumber or watermelon... a pale watery scent that's quite sweet, though the lacquer itself is flavourless.
'Nova' opens as a bright babydoll pink with blue undertones, perfect for completing a sixties style ensemble. I was really excited to add a pop of colour to my makeup routine as I'm all for natural hues normally! I love how light the formula is - the pigment is so intense that I guessed the texture would be heavy and gloopy - but I was wrong! It's so comfy and barely there I can imagine loving it for summer - you can go all out or apply a little less to get a nice rosy shade.
I'd love to try more of these - 'Big Bang' has special appeal as it's such an intense red and thought to be the most pigmented, comparable to MAC's Ruby Woo!
It's also wonderful as a blush too - very pigmented, blends easily and stays put...
